Award for Robin Hammond

Share:

Photo journalist Robin Hammond wins the third Carmignac Gestion Photojournalism Award.

Robin Hammond won the jury's votes with his series "Your wounds will be named silence": From December 2011 to May 2012, he documented the unrelenting fight of the Zimbabwe people against the violent terror of Mugabe's regime. Hammond's familiarity with the region and its people from previous work engagements, and his sensitive approach to documenting what he saw, allows for a highly personal insight into the South African state's real situation.

About the Award
The 50,000 Euro grant is awarded once every year by the Carmignac Foundation, with the aim to provide financial backing for a long term photojournalistic project. The Foundation's support continues after the awards ceremony: Robin Hammond's work will be showing at the Chapelle de l’’Ecole des Beaux arts in Paris, from 9th November to 9th December. There will also be a book of his photographs to accompany the exhibition.
