The Russian photographer Boris Mikhailov will be awarded the “Spectrum” Prize in Hanover. From February 24 to May 20, 2013, his work can be viewed at the Sprengel Museum.
With Boris Mikhailov, (born 1938 in Kharkov, Ukraine), the Stiftung Niedersachsen is honouring an outstanding contemporary photographer. On the occasion of the renowned “Spectrum” award ceremony, the Sprengel Museum is launching the exhibition: “BORIS MIKHAILOV The Books 1968-2012“.
It is the most comprehensive retrospective of this artist to date: around 20 of Mikhailov’s picture cycles present him quite explicitly as a ‘maker of books’. The photographer’s series focus on the everyday life of Soviet and post-Soviet society.
A press conference for the exhibition will take place on Friday, February 22 at 11:00am at the Sprengel Museum Hanover, Kurt Schwitters Platz, 30169 Hanover.
The Stiftung Niedersachsen’s international “Spectrum” Prize for photography will be awarded to Boris Mikhailov on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 11:15am, within the framework of the opening of the exhibition.
