Apo-Summicron-R 180 mm f/2

An engineering masterpiece
The internal focus of the Apo-Summicron-R 180 mm f/2 allows for particularly reliable focusing. With a picture angle of just 14° (in contrast to that of 45° offered by the Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 Asph), the 180 mm tele lens enables a high degree of subject isolation. This can be intensified even further by experimenting with blur – which is facilitated by the lens' initial aperture of f/2. Shooting with fully open aperture at a distance of two meters, the lens will offer a depth of field of just one centimetre – even shallower than that of the Noctilux.

Its considerable weight of two and a half kilograms (5.5 lb) means that the Apo-Summicron-R 180 mm f/2 must be used either with a tripod, or only for very short exposure times. However, it does offer excellent contrast rendition across the entire image plane – even at fully open aperture – as well as virtually unparalleled detail resolution.

The Apo-Summicron-R 180 mm f/2 features two focus modes: a fast focus for capturing moving subjects, along with a second mode for precise focusing with full concentration on the chosen image.
