The Old Man & The Sea
The Old Man & The Sea
February 11, 2014
Helen Levitt, Squatting Girl, 1980
Renowned as a leading venue for vintage photography, Amsterdam's Kahmann Gallery now also focuses its attention on contemporary works. The Old Man & The Sea combines classic photographs by artists such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and Helen Levitt with modern counterparts.
As a result, the selected vintage photographs gain a new relevance in our present time, while the contemporary images are given a place within the history of photography. The exhibition title is a reference to Ernest Hemingway's famous novel of the same name, which influenced countless writers throughout the ages – just as the masters of classic photography have visibly shaped the work of subsequent generations.
The exhibition will be on display in Amsterdam until April 5, 2014. For further information visit: Kahmann Gallery
