Sebastián Liste wins with "The New Culture of Violence in Latin America"
Sebastián Liste has won the 2014 Alexia Foundation Grant. Liste was awarded the $ 20.000 prize for his project The New Culture of Violence in Latin America. The reportage offers glimpses of criminality and security in Latin America.

With its yearly award, the Alexia Foundation wants to advance the cause of photojournalism and reportage photography. Named after Alexia Tsairis, a public communications student who died in the Lockerbie terrorist attack on Pan Am flight 103, the foundation supports photographers whose work draws the attention to grievances, and to political, social and humanitarian problems that are being ignored.

In addition to the main award that has been granted since 1991, there is also a newcomer category award. This year it was the Iranian photographer Mehran Hamrahi who received the honour. His award-winning work Iranian People, Ordinary or Criminals portrays the everyday life of Iran's youth. The prize includes $ 1000 as well as a grant for the Syracruse University London programme.
