The Abisag Tüllmann Award for artistic photo journalism was granted for the second time on December 8, 2013. Nearly 100 photographers sent in submissions, with works ranging across the whole spectrum of artistic photojournalism. The Award is granted by the Abisag Tüllmann Foundation, which promises to support the tradition followed by the photographer it is named after.
Abisag Tüllmann was a German photographer dedicated to photojournalism as well as commercial and theatre photography. In addition to fulfilling the demand for publications and exhibitions of her work, the Foundation also promotes artistic photojournalism. This is the intention behind the Award.
The 2013 winners were Andrea Diefenbach and Kirill Golovchenko. Special Mentions were also given to Chiaria Dazi and Birte Kaufmann.
The award-winning works will be on display at the Heussenstamm Gallery in Frankfurt, from February 25 to April 4, 2014.
