Alfred Weidinger's exhibition "Könige" (Kings) will be on display at the Leica Gallery in Vienna, from November 7, 2013 to January 25, 2014.

The Austrian photographer has been on the trail of the last kings of Africa since 2009. His research took him to Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Uganda and Angola. Following the example of studio portraits taken of African leaders and chiefs in the 19th and early 20th centuries, Weidinger's pictures show the monarchs in traditional pose and full ceremonial regalia. The photos were taken with a Leica M Monochrom with Noctilux-M 1:0,95/50 mm lens.
