A camera in designer leather: with the M9-P Edition Hermès, Leica took sophistication to a new level. The camera body was encased in an exclusive calf-leather trim supplied by Hermès – the same supple leather was also used for the matching carrier strap.
In collaboration with automotive designer Walter de'Silva, selected features of the camera body were restyled, including the top and base plates, the shutter speed dial, the multifunction wheel and the shutter release. To emphasise the model's unique design, the frame selector lever, accessory shoe and Leica script on the upper face of the top plate were omitted.
Luxury, by definition, cannot be a mass product: just 400 models of this special edition were produced, offered in two versions which were differentiated only by the lens supplied with either set.
