Case Study in Photographs

Share:

Under the title of ‘We Here For Some Jive Conspiracy’, the Webber Gallery presents the first L.A. exhibition of American artist Zora J Murff. The showcase continues until March 31, 2023.

Zora J Murff is known for his fierce and overt questioning of racial and cultural constructs. This specific iteration of works focuses on the history and social climate of Los Angeles – however, this is not the first time that the artist zones in on one particular location in order to detail a more expansive case study of America’s complex and deep racial history.

In ‘We Here For Some Jive Conspiracy’, Murff employs the objective power of photography and our trust in visual depictions to examine our existing relationship with racial disparities. The photographs are interwoven with historical documents, as well as an archive of memes, online social phenomena and pop-culture references.
