Thomas Wrede – Sceneries

July 27, 2018

An exhibition of works by German photography artist Thomas Wrede continues at the Von-der-Heydt Kunsthalle in Wuppertal until 26 August.
Thomas Wrede (b. 1963) uses photography to reflect our yearning for nature, whilst simultaneously questioning the medium’s true level of realism. In his sometimes almost surreal images, which feature titles such as Domestic Landscapes, Real Landscapes or Magic Worlds, he consciously plays with the viewer’s perceptions and expectations – thereby raising the question as to whether a photograph can be considered an accurate depiction of reality.

With the exhibition Sceneries, the Von-der-Heydt Kunsthalle in Wuppertal presents a cross-section of Wrede’s analogue and digital oeuvre spanning from the 1990 to today. The showcase will be on display until 26 August 2018.
