The World Photography Organisation has revealed the winners of this year’s World Photography Award.
The title ‘Photographer of the Year’ and accompanying 25,000 USD cash prize goes to Pablo Albarenga. Tom Oldham has been announced as the ‘Open Photographer of the Year’, while Ioanna Sakellaraki was chosen as the ‘Student Photographer of the Year’. Leica photographer Robin Hinsch has been selected as the winner in the category ‘Environment’.
The ten Professional competition winners were determined by an international jury of industry experts: Claudi Carreras Guillén (independent curator, editor and cultural manager), Touria El Glaoui (founding director of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair), Katie Hollander (director of the Annenberg Space for Photography), Gwen Lee (director of the Singapore International Photography Festival) and Brent Lewis (photo editor for The New York Times). The Open and Youth competitions were chaired by Gisela Kayser, artistic and managing director of the Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus association in Berlin. Tim Clark (curator, writer and editor-in-chief at 1000 Words Magazine) completed the 2020 jury as the chair of the Student competition.
