Award for Sabine Weiss

November 6, 2020

Sabine Weiss receives this year’s Women In Motion Award to honour her life’s work.
Despite the cancellation of ‘Les Rencontres d'Arles at Laennec’, the luxury goods company Kering and Les Rencontres d'Arles were determined that the second edition of the Women In Motion Award for Photography should go ahead as planned. The organisers are honoured to present the Women In Motion Award 2020 to the extraordinary Leica photographer Sabine Weiss, in recognition of her remarkable life’s work.

The Swiss-French photographer, who continues to work to this day, is renowned as a prolific artist who has significantly contributed to the humanist photography movement in France. At the age of 96, she is still enjoying what must be the longest career in photography history – having dedicated herself to her art for almost 80 years.
