The exhibition In and Out of Fashion, comprising of works by Viviane Sassen, opens at the Fotomuseum Winterthur on 13 December 2014. With her often provocative images, Sassen (born 1972 in Amsterdam) has become one of Europe's most exciting female photographers.
Playful and Creative
In and Out of Fashion is the first major retrospective of Sassen's fashion photography. The exhibition comprises more than 300 images taken over the past 17 years. Sassen is known for her playful and creative visual style, as well as her tendency to break with many stereotypes of the fashion industry.
To Sassen, photography is akin to an experiment. Her work with models, stylists and make-up artists is an open and exploratory process, in which her models' bodies are staged to the point of abstraction.
