Juergen Teller’s work moves along the boundary between art and commercial photography, with portraits taking a central position: whether in the areas of music, fashion, everyday life or landscapes, his unique sense for people and situations allows him to produce picture composition with an immediacy that is sometimes deceptively simple.
Deliberately breaking with convention to challenge our ways of seeing and undermine our preconceptions, Teller does not indulge in sentimentalised visual strategies. Born in 1964, he is currently in high demand worldwide, and his work – including very comprehensive series – is published in numerous books, newspapers and magazines.
