Cindy Sherman: Untitled Filmstill #83, 1980
Within the framework of the first auction run by the Ressler Kunst Auktionen GmbH, 150 works of art will be on display as of February 25, at the OstLicht Gallery in Vienna. The total minimum value they can be sold for is 2 million euros.
Among the most valuable photographs on offer is Cindy Sherman's Film Still #83, a silver gelatine print from 1980, with a minimum price of 70,000 euros. The photo has been on display at the Whitney Museum of American Art in NY, the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, the Contemporary Art Museum in Los Angeles and, most recently, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Among the other highlights is the Gasoline Stations series by Ed Ruscha with ten silver gelatine prints from 1962 (starting price 70,000 euros), and works by a number of Austrian photographers such as Birgit Jürgenssen and Eva Schlegel.
In addition to photographs, other forms of contemporary art will be up for auction.
