Ren Hang

March 17, 2015

From March 19 to June 19, 2015, the OstLicht Gallery in Vienna is presenting an exhibition of works by the Chinese artist.
The OstLicht Photo Gallery is showing the most comprehensive exhibition in Europe to date of works by the young Chinese artist, Ren Hang (*1987).

Based in Beijing, Hang's analogue images tell of human emotions, of relationships and friendships, as well as fear and loneliness. Most of those portrayed are his friends.

His imagery is fresh, young and radical, strongly influenced by Chinese culture, on the one hand, and by China's urban youth culture, on the other. His intimate pictures also defy China's social taboos, by exploring the human body and sexuality, which more often than not brings the censor into play.
