Enrique Badulescu

April 12, 2015

From April 16 to June 15, 2015, the Leica Gallery in Wetzlar is presenting "Appealingly different", an exhibition by Enrique Badulescu. The selection of works by the renowned fashion photographer was produced exclusively for the Leica S Magazine.
Enrique Badulescu is considered one of the fashion industry's most prominent photographers. Born in Mexico City in 1961, he began his career in London in the eighties' music scene, taking pictures of the Rolling Stones. Within a short time he was being commissioned to produce various album covers and fashion campaigns.

Colours and water are the leitmotifs that have characterised Badulescu's broad body of work over the years. Expressiveness and strong contrasts define his individual and very much appreciated style. Movement is also a central feature of his photography, which is why he prefers to work out of doors and, above all, in or close to the water. The unpredictability of the elements is something that appeals to him, as it can have an impact on the rigidity of a given arrangement and bring an element of softness to the images.

For the Leica S Magazine, Badulescu interpreted the particular features and characteristics of international labels such as Hermès, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Paul Smith, in his own very unique way. To do so, he pulled out all his creative stops, producing not only a fashion presentation, but also opening up a dialogue with the viewers and taking them on a journey. The series that were created exclusively for the S Magazine are an impressive testimony to his work.
