Araki-Mania

November 15, 2014

Leica Gallery Warsaw presents the work of Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. Continues until 14 December 2014.
Nude photographs by Tokyo-born photographer Nobuyoshi Araki are currently showing at the Leica Gallery Warsaw. The exhibition ends on 14 December 2014. Araki began his career in 1964, briefly working as a press photographer. In the seventies, he dedicated himself to erotic and nude photography, quickly advancing to a celebrated representative of the genre.

Today, Araki is also a part of popular culture. He has published almost 500 books – considering this to be the most important form of presentation for photography. For this reason, most of his work is created "for the purpose of a book." Several of his projects have been created in co-operation with Leica, including the analogue series Last by Leica, which was shot with an M7.

Arakimania forms part of the double exhibition Araki i Jaszczuk, which juxtaposes Araki's work with the series Kinky City by Polish photographer Paweł Jaszczuk.
