Celebration of Photography

Share:

Every year since 1989, photography enthusiasts from around the world flock to the medieval town of Perpignan for the annual Visa pour l’image festival for photojournalism. For the 35th edition, set to take place from September 2nd to 17th, 2023, artistic director Jean-François Leroy has conceptualised a rich programme comprising 25 exhibitions, along with panel discussions, film screenings, portfolio reviews, artist talks and special award ceremonies. A broad selection of international photographers will present their work in outdoor settings and unusual venues such as churches, the former university building, an old convent, as well as numerous other exhibition spaces. For two weeks, the Southern-French city becomes a hub of exciting and highly diverse photographic approaches by artists including Nick Brandt, Paolo Pellegrin, Natalya Saprunova and Dimitar Dilkoff, to name but a few.

A multi-faceted events programme offers a host of opportunities for stimulating encounters and insightful discussions. The festival and all accompanying events are open to all and designed to draw visitors from far and near. Access to the entire festival programme is free. This year’s edition places a particular focus on outreach and education.
