PORTRAIT(S) in Vichy

June 3, 2017

Once again the French city of Vichy is set to host the ‘Portrait(s)’ photo festival, running from 16 July to 10 September 2017.
An entire summer dedicated to photography: From 16 July to 10 September 2017, Vichy in central France will be hosting the fifth edition of the Portrait(s) photo festival.

Encompassing ten simultaneous exhibitions in various venues, the festival presents visitors with a wide spectrum of portrait photography. This year’s offerings include the poetic series Place Blanche by Swedish photographer Christer Strömholm, capturing a group of transsexual women in late 1950s Paris. Also featured is the understated and skilfully composed Camouflage and Disputing by Liu Bolin.

The Centre Culturel Valery-Larbaud presents a comprehensive group exhibition by members of Modd – a French agency predominantly dedicated to portrait photography. Pierre Gonnord’s Light of the Soul, an almost melancholy portrait series of young people, will be showing at the same venue.
