To mark the Day of Liberation from National Socialism and Fascism on May 8th, 1945, Berlin’s Buchkunst gallery and publishing house presents a virtual showcase of images by Soviet frontline photographer Valery Faminsky (1914-1993).
The exhibition was curated by Ana Druga & Thomas Gust, publishers of the comprehensive photo book ‘Berlin May 1945 – Valery Faminsky’ which won the silver award at the German Photo Book Prize 2019/20.
In addition to viewing the online showcase, audiences also have a chance to participate in virtual tours led by publisher and photography expert Thomas Gust, which will be live-streamed on May 1st, 8th and 30th. Ukrainian photojournalist Arthur Bondar will attend as a special guest, to talk about how he discovered Faminsky’s archive in Moscow in 2016.
