The dream of moving to another country is a driving force for people around the world – from EU citizens with the privilege of free movement, to African migrants who risk their lives in search of a better life.
For their collaborative series ‘Our Dreams’, photographers Helena Schätzle and Lioba Keuck spent several weeks in Southern Europe, where these multi-faceted dreams of a brighter future seem to take shape along the sunny shores of Portugal and Spain.
Curated by Bettina Michel, the exhibition shines a light on those who have arrived at the destination of their dreams. The artists pose questions as to whether their lives are what they had envisioned, and offer new perspectives on the nature of cross-cultural migration.
