The exhibition, African Catwalk, is being opened today at the Leica Store Turin, in the presence of the photographer, Per-Anders Pettersson.

Six years ago, Per-Anders Pettersson attended his first Fashion Week in Johannesburg somewhat by chance. His aim had been to portray the up-and-coming middle class in South Africa, but he immediately became fascinated by the colourful and progressive fashion world, which led him to attend more fashion shows. From 2010 to 2015 he travelled to 15 African countries documenting the fashion scene in each one of them. You can see a comprehensive portfolio of the photos he took during that time in M Magazine No. 3.

Pettersson was born in Sweden in 1967. When he was 20, a Swedish newspaper offered him a position as editorial photographer in New York, which became the springboard for many of his numerous reportages. It was from there that he travelled to South Africa in 1994. Nowadays the photographer lives and works in Cap Town.
