Landscape Portraits

Share:

For thirty years, Thibaut Cuisset (1958–2017) went out to explore and document the world with his inherent gentleness and precision – patiently capturing the specificities of each territory, whether it was untouched or inhabited. Drawing on his cinematographic vision and affinity with painting, he conveyed the essence of a place in its purest, most undiluted form – without introducing anecdotal narratives or human pathos. His inimitable approach gave rise to extraordinary ‘portraits’ of rural as well as urban landscapes.

Between 2012 and 2015, the French photographer embarked on three extensive trips to capture his interpretation of America – fully aware that  documenting the USA has long been an integral part of art and photography history. The resulting works are now presented at the Parisian gallery until January 15, 2022.
