Starting December 18, the Stuttgart gallery f75 is presenting Die Letzten Venezianer (The Last Venetians), an exhibition of works by Karl Johaentges. A book with the same name was recently published, and signed copies will be available to purchase at the gallery.
Beyond the Piazza San Marco and the Ponte Rialto
There are countless books on Venice: you could easily imagine that every thing about the city has already been said, written and photographed. Far from the truth. Karl Johaentges has managed to discover a completely different side to Venice, because he focusses on those who (still) live and work there.
In collaboration with Luana Castelli, a Venetian herself, he aimed his camera at the other Venice – beyond the Piazza San Marco and the Ponte Rialto. The photo project that he has developed over a number of years, concentrates on the city's the lesser known, still remaining, inhabitants.
