ST. MORITZ ART MASTERS

This year the Swiss arts and culture festival focuses on the topic of American Art.

American Art is at the centre of this year's St. Moritz Art Masters. The 9th edition of the arts and culture festival takes place in St. Moritz, Switzerland, from 26 August to 4 September 2016.

Drawings and paintings by Robert Longo will be on display at the Forum Paracelsus, along with an exhibition by Richard Avedon presented by Idea Books Publishing. A group exhibition with works by the iconic American artists Robert Rauschenberg and Frank Stella will be shown at the Protestant Church, while excerpts from the Montblanc Cutting Edge Art Collection will be on display at the sports hall of the nearby school building – the selection includes works by Tom Sachs, Pat York and Nicholas Forker.

The medium of photography once again plays a significant part at this year's event: the exhibition Kaos at the Hotel Kempinski celebrates the life's work of photography legend Albert Watson with a best-of selection of his world-famous photographs, presented in cooperation with TASCHEN Publishing. This will be complemented by a special presentation of the book G.O.A.T  – Muhammad Ali (published by TASCHEN) at the Hotel Kulm. On Saturday 27 August, Watson will be honoured with the Cartier Award.

The Andrea Caratsch Gallery will be showing exquisite photographs by the New York based artist duo McDermott & McGough. The St. Moritz branch of London's Robilant + Voena Gallery presents the work of international shooting star Alexis Rockmann, while the new Vito Schnabel Gallery showcases a group exhibition with works by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel and Laurie Anderson.
