From September 4 to December 5, 2021, Huis Marseille in Amsterdam presents the first European solo show by Indian Magnum photographer Sohrab Hura.
Over the past fifteen years, Sohrab Hura’s approach has evolved from a documentary style to an experimental, confrontational, and even sceptical attitude towards the medium of photography. His oeuvre spans from photo series and video projects to installations and art interventions. The showcase ‘Spill’ at Amsterdam’s Huis Marseille presents an overview of Hura’s career to date, and marks the artist’s first solo show in Europe.
Born 1981 in Chinsurah, West Bengal, Sohrab Hura is a photographer, film-maker, writer and curator. In 2020, his film ‘Bittersweet’ won first prize at the 66th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen; in 2019, he received the Paris Photo - Aperture Photobook of the Year Award for his publication ‘The Coast’. Hura is a full member of Magnum Photos. He lives and works in New Delhi.
