Political Abstractions is the second exhibition to be held at the Leica Gallery São Paulo since its inauguration ceremony back in August. The vernissage took place on October 29 in the presence of the artist. In addition to a film about Gibson’s career, the photographer’s book of the same title will also be presented at the exhibition.

Ralph Gibson was born in LA in 1939, and studied photography in the US Navy and at the San Francisco Art Institute. He worked as an assistant for Dorothea Lange and Robert Frank, and founded Lustrum Press in 1969. You can learn more about Gibson’s pictures in the Mono portfolio in LFI 2/2014.
