Emerging Swedish photographer Hannah Modigh has gained international recognition for her sensitive visual essays and poetic photo books on crisis-ridden areas of the USA. Her most recent series, ‘Delta’, is currently on display at the Fotohof Gallery in Salzburg – marking Modigh’s first exhibition in an Austrian venue.

The extensive series is comprised of small-scale, intimate photographic works created over a period of five years, in which the artist explores the “presence of an absence”, and the palpable silence of the things that have been left unsaid.

Hannah Modigh (b. 1980 in Stockholm) spent much of her childhood in India as well as Sweden’s Österlen region. From 2002 to 2007, Modigh studied photography in Copenhagen and Biskops Arnö, followed by art studies at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2012 to 2013). It was through family connections that she was able to pursue many of her photo projects in the USA. Hannah Modigh currently lives and works in Stockholm and the USA.
