The NRW Architectural Archive in Dortmund presents the exhibition ‘RomBilder’ by Maximilian Meisse, continuing until February 19, 2023. “The displayed works are intended to counteract boredom within photography, by presenting the city from new perspectives,” the artist explained at the opening reception.
Meisse’s large-scale colour photographs capture Rome in all its classic beauty. However, it is not the structures of the individual buildings that take centre stage in Meisse’s images; instead, his focus is on the cityscape in which they culminate. Through his unusual choice of showing Rome from everyday perspectives, the photographer immerses the audience in the city and its unique atmosphere.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue of the same title, featuring 60 colour photographs and a foreword by Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani.
