Concrete Photography seeks to produce a pure expression of the medium itself – free from iconography and symbolism. Roger Humbert (b. 1929 in Basel) is renowned as one of the movement’s pioneers, with an extensive oeuvre spanning from the 1950s to the present day.
Up until September 19, 2021, the Fabian & Claude Walter Gallery presents a cross-section of the photographer’s work, and retraces the evolution of Concrete Photography through his diverse creations. The exhibition, titled ‘The Language of Light’, is divided into five sections – Analogue Photograms, Abstract Colour Photographs, Digital Concrete Photography, Digital Subjective Photography, and Spectral Imaging – and explores several bodies of work from the photography artist’s prolific career.
