The 11th edition of the renowned Prix Carmignac is dedicated to the Republic of the Congo, and the structural, human and ecological challenges facing the Central African country today. Despite its vast abundance of natural and mineral resources, the DR Congo is one of the poorest countries in the world, following decades of exploitation, conflicts, corruption and a continuous rise in population.
The 50,000-euro grant will support a photographic and journalistic project which documents the complex social and practical realities of life in the DRC. Submissions close on 16 October 2019. The high-ranking jury will convene in November 2019 to determine the Prix Carmignac laureate.
