Images of the Great Migration

December 20, 2017

The exhibition ‘Black Chicago’ continues at Les Douches la Galerie in Paris until 13 January 2018.
The group exhibition Black Chicago is currently showing at Les Douches in Paris – featuring works by Wayne Miller, Ray K. Metzker, Yasuhiro Ishimoto, Marvin E. Newman, Vivian Maier, Tom Arndt and Carlos Javier Ortiz. The images span from the 1940s to the present day, showing a wide range of perspectives and artistic styles.

Each photographer had their very own approach to portraying the Afro-American community who moved from the Deep South to Northern industrial cities such as New York, Chicago and Detroit between 1915 and 1970, in search of a life free from poverty, racial segregation and lynch law. The exhibition continues at the Parisian gallery until 13 January 2018.
