Encompassing photographs by Paolo Woods and Gabriele Galimberti, ‘Les Paradis, Rapport Annuel’ was one of the most extensive and remarkable exhibitions at last year’s Rencontres d'Arles. The show will be on display at La Galerie until May 4, 2016.
The exhibited works encapsulate the photographers’ in-depth investigation into the powerful yet intangible realm of the financial market. From Delaware to Jersey, from Singapore to Panama, from the British Virgin Islands to the financial metropolis of London, ‘Les Paradis’ offers insights into a closed world that most likely supersedes the viewer’s imagination. Far from representing an eccentric or exotic practice, tax havens are in fact a common and well-established tool of the global economy.
In twelve large-format images selected by La Galerie, Woods and Galimberti present a critical interpretation of their theme, raising a number of fundamental moral and ethical questions. The exhibition is complemented by a book of the same title, released by Delpire Publishing.
