Ralph Gibson - Vu, Imprévu

March 17, 2018

Photography meets music: In the exhibition Vu, Imprévu, Leica photographer Ralph Gibson accompanies 15 of his most iconic images with his own musical compositions. Visitors can experience this unique audio-visual presentation in Paris from 17 March to 12 May.
During the 1970s, Leica photographer Ralph Gibson famously gave rise to an entirely new visual language. What is not widely known, however, is that he is also a skilled musician. The exhibition Vu, Imprévu now highlights this previously hidden talent. The presentation features 15 of Gibson’s most iconic photographs – each of which is accompanied by a piece of music that has been composed, played and recorded by the artist specifically for this exhibition.

The selected photographs were taken between 1968 and 1990, and are displayed in the form of silver gelatin prints. Viewers will be able to stream the accompanying compositions via NFC on their smartphones. This extraordinary, audio-visual experience can be enjoyed at the Thierry Bigaignon Gallery in Paris from 17 March to 12 May 2018.
