From March 4 to April 4, 2015, the Soho Gallery in New York is presenting works by Magdalena Solé.
In her series, the photographer shows cities and places abandoned as a result of the tsunami and Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster. The New Yorker portrays the area declared a no-go zone with great sensitivity and, in addition to bizarre moments, discovers impressively beautiful landscapes amid all the destruction.
On March 11, the fourth anniversary of the catastrophe, there will be a memorial event at the Soho Gallery alongside the exhibition. In addition to a presentation by Magdalena Solé, poems by survivors will be read and traditional Japanese Shakuhachi music performed.
