Swiss Magnum photographer Werner Bischof is famous for his contributions as a photojournalist for LIFE and Picture Post Magazine. In the short years before his untimely death in 1954, he created a multi-faceted body of work which continues to reverberate to this day. The retrospective at the Kunstfoyer VKB is a homage to his life's work, marking the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Around 200 original vintage prints and documents released by the Werner Bischof Estate provide a comprehensive overview of his images of post-war Europe, his Asia reportages and his photographs of the US and South America. The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive book publication available in English (Aperture Books) and German (Scheidegger & Spiess Publishers).
