The French city of Montpellier dedicates three weeks to photography: this year’s les boutographies photo festival takes place from the first to the last weekend of May. The main exhibition introduces 28 artists from various European countries – the images were selected by a jury headed by Viviane Esders. In addition, students of the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki have been invited to showcase excerpts of their portfolios. The programme also features a range of discussion groups, presentations and other fringe events.

The les boutographies photo festival premiered ten years ago at the city’s Pavillon Populaire. By now, it has expanded to include another dozen venues in the heart of Montpellier.
