Mother and Daughter

Botanique in Brussels dedicates a major retrospective to Belgian artist duo memymom. On show from May 27 to August 1, 2021.

Marilène Coolens (b.1953) and Lisa De Boeck (b. 1985) are mother and daughter, and make up the artist duo memymom. They first gained acclaim with an intimate series of analogue photographs for which they orchestrated curious, at times even surreal mother-daughter scenes.

The first major showcase of the artists’ work is now on display in their home city of Brussels under the title of ‘Home Game’. As well as offering an overview of the duo’s oeuvre from 1990 to today, the 220 exhibits also include numerous new and unpublished works, many of them with an intensely cinematic feel.
