The 150,000 euros granted to the winner of the 2017 Master of Photography, TV talent show, goes to the British photographer Gillian Allard. Over a period of eight weeks, the twelve contestants, both professional and ambitious amateur photographers, travelled around Europe on a mission to prove their photographic creativity, instinct and diversity.

As exclusive technology partner, Leica equipped the photographers with cameras (Leica SL, M-D and Q) and lenses. All the participants received professional photographic equipment and accessories. The American photographer and Leica Hall of Fame member, Steve McCurry, took part as a guest photographer in the final episode, and gave the jury, made up of Darcy Padilla, Caroline Hunter and Oliviero Toscani, his support in making the decision.

The 51 year-old Gillian Allard from Great Britain is dedicated to artistic photography and teaching; whereby her photographic passion lies in traditional film and dark room development. She spent some years working as a free-lance photographer in London while doing her Master at the Royal College of Art. After than she returned to rural Suffolk where she teaches photography.
