November 22, 2019

The Mucem in Marseille, South of France, presents the exhibition ‘Kharmohra – L’Afghanistan au risque de l’art’ – on view from November 22, 2019 to March 1, 2020.
The exhibition ‘Kharmohra – L’Afghanistan au risque de l’art’ will be on view at the Mucem in Marseille from November 22, 2019 to March 1, 2020. Since the Taliban was toppled from power in 2001, Afghanistan has seen the emergence of a new creative generation who has not only survived under an oppressive regime, but has chosen to harness their experiences into powerful creative expressions. Particularly the country’s capital, Kabul, is home to an art scene that remains unyielding in the face of adversity.

The exhibition presents a selection of contemporary works from a range of visual genres, spanning from paintings and photography to installations and video art. The represented artists include the award-winning Afghani documentary photographer Farzana Wahidy, as well as street photographer Morteza Herati.
