Up until January 25, 2015, lovers of classic black and white photography as well as fans of rock, pop and soul music, are in for a real treat. ZEPHYR – Raum für Fotografie in Mannheim is presenting The Look of Sound, the world's first comprehensive exhibition of works by Norman Seeff. He has been one of the most famous portrait photographers in the USA for a number of decades.

Over 150 portraits of artists
The Look of Sound exhibition brings together over 150 portraits of artists. Visitors will discover a Who's Who of the music scene from the sixties to the eighties. Seeff's portraits are imbued with a spontaneous liveliness, and grant the viewer deep insight into the aesthetic imagery and music culture of an era.

A star of the photography scene
Norman Seeff was born in South Africa in 1939. He worked as a doctor for a number of years. At the end of the sixties he emigrated to the USA, where his very first assignment secured his breakthrough: his work for the album Stage Fright by The Band was produced as a poster and soon became a collector's item. He rapidly rose to the top of the photography scene and became Art Director of United Artists Records and the jazz label Blue Note.
