Michael Kenna in considered one of the most significant contemporary landscape photographers in the world. The intensity of his images is achieved thanks to a slow and precise approach to the chosen motif, and an extremely long exposure. Rather than digital processing, he works with traditional negative processing in the darkroom, which he considers an essential part of his work. The format of his pictures is also unusual for contemporary photography: his prints are never larger than 20 x 20 centimetres.
