A Zone Free of Emissions

November 13, 2018

The Landesgalerie Linz des Oberösterreichischen Landesmuseums shows a landscape portrait by Paul Kranzler and Andrew Phelps. From 08 November, 2018 until 24 February, 2019.
The so called National Radio Quiet Zone in the state of West Virginia has no cell phones, radios, Wi-Fi or microwaves. Renowned astrophysicists searching for extraterrestrial life, Wi-Fi refugees and bear hunters clash in the largely radiation-free environment around the Green Bank Telescope. In their impressive photo series The Drake Equation, Paul Kranzler and Andrew Phelps have documented this extraordinary area and its inhabitants. In addition to this, the artists are presenting their video work The Quiet Zone, which was created in 2018, for the first time in the Landesgalerie Linz.
