We are happy to invite you to this new event format being held at LFI: PhotoSlam. The (hi)story behind the photo.
The format is inspired by so-called Science Slams, where scientific research projects are explained to members of the public in an entertaining manner. We will not, however, be dedicating the time to research projects, but rather individual photographs.
The way it goes is like this: five participants each have ten minutes to present a pre-selected image – and the story behind it – in a manner that is preferably interesting and/or entertaining. It can be with humour; connected to personal memories; as a curator of an exhibition; or as an anecdote of a photo editor – that is up to each of the participants, and will undoubtedly be different from photo to photo.
The participants of the 1st PhotoSlam are: Krzysztof Candrowicz (Curator of the Hamburg Triennial this year), Petra Göllnitz (Photo Editor stern magazine), Carsten Rabe (Photographer), David Rojkowski (Historian/LFI Editor) and Jutta Schein (Photo Editor Die Zeit).
The first event will take place on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 19:30, on the eve of the Triennial of Photography.
