The fact that fireworks are not only used to celebrate the arrival of the new year according to the Gregorian calendar, is proven by the pictures taken by Norikazu Matsumoto that appear in the LFI Gallery.
The photo was taken on August 7, 2010, at the Edo River east of Tokyo. The firework festival is organized to help people forget the summer heat, when around 1.3 million people get together on the banks of the river to say farewell to the summer.
Tonight, people all over the world will also be out and about, celebrating the change of the year with colourful firework displays. We wish all our readers a Happy New Year!
