Version 2.1 of the LFI App with a number of new features is available now as a free download from the iTunes App Store. The iPhone version of the app has been given a completely new design, while the navigation bar of the iPad version has been adapted in line with the newly added functions.
LFI Magazine – Preview
Most notably, the Preview function of the app's Magazine section is now accessible to iPhone and iPad users alike. It enables users to view around 10 double-page excerpts of every LFI issue published in the past 11 years. The same feature is available on the LFI Homepage.
Also new is the addition of a Books section. Currently this contains the first digital version of the definitive Leica Compendium by Erwin Puts, with further publications to follow. For now, this section is accessible to iPad users only.
In addition, plans are underway to make all LFI editions from the past 66 years available in digital format in the coming year, as well as to make all areas of the Magazine section accessible to iPhone users.
Version 2.1 also features a Video section, containing video items on published as well as unpublished material from LFI reportages and events, such as the grand opening of the Leica exhibition Eyes Wide Open in Hamburg.
Another new addition to the app is the Shop section, featuring selected products from the LFI Shop including Leica accessories, photo books and many other products sure to sure to delight any keen photographer.
As well as featuring a new menu bar design, Version 2.1 has been adapted to iOS 8. The previous download problem for magazine issues has also been rectified.
Selected areas of the LFI Gallery as well as news and updates from the world of photography complete the app, which is available in English and German.
