The new Firmware 1.4 for the Leica T is ready to download!
The new Firmware 1.4 for the Leica T is now available to download. This update greatly increases the speed of both the camera and its autofocus performance.

Installing Firmware 1.4 enables the Leica T's autofocus to operate twice as fast as before. Further improvements are noticeable in the touchscreen operation as well as Playback mode. The camera's start-up time has also been improved.

Furthermore, the update makes the Leica T compatible with Leica's new SL lenses, which were unveiled last week together with the new Leica SL: the Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90 mm f/2.8-4 Asph (available from 16 November 2015), the Leica APO-Vario-Elmarit-SL 90-280 mm f/2.8-4 and the Leica Summilux-SL 50 mm f/1.4 Asph (both to be released in 2016).

In addition to the Firmware update, Leica have announced two new lenses for the T camera system. In reference to the T's recently re-named L bayonet, the lenses are released under the name of 'TL': the Summilux-TL 35 mm f/1.4 Asph is expected to be available in spring 2016, with the APO Macro-Elmarit-TL 60 mm f/2.8 Asph to follow in autumn. Just like the T's existing fixed focal-length lens (the Summicron-T 23 mm f/2 Asph), the two new additions will be available in a black or silver finish.
