The new Leica S3

Share:

It has been ten years since Leica released the S2 – a camera that had the appearance of a DSLR, but featured a significantly larger sensor than a 35mm-format camera. At this year’s Photokina, the company presents the camera’s successor: the Leica S3, featuring a resolution of 64 megapixels as its most prominent new feature.

Other details of the camera’s performance have also been improved. For example, the S3’s newly developed sensor offers a 71% higher resolution than its predecessor, along with a dynamic range of 15 stops and a maximum ISO of 50,000. In addition, the sensor surface can now be used to record uncropped full-HD and 4K-cinema videos that retain the characteristic medium-format look.

The Leica S3 will be available from spring 2019.
