Firmware updates for the S system

August 27, 2014

At this year's Photokina, Leica will present their most extensive Firmware revision to date
Leica Camera AG introduce new Firmware updates for the Leica S system, enabling owners of a Leica S (Typ 006), Leica S2 or Leica S2-P to further enhance their camera's performance. FW 2.4.0.0. (for Leica S) and FW 1.4.0.0. (for Leica S2 and S2-P) are available as free downloads from the Leica Homepage, starting from 16 September 2014.

Particularly the new FW 2.4.0.0. for the Leica S (Typ 006) contains a multitude of improvements, resulting in a significantly higher performance of the camera and all S lenses. It is the most comprehensive Firmware update since the S system was introduced. An entirely revised Autofocus algorithm improves the camera's AF performance, as well as enabling a significantly faster and more precise focus. The update also optimises the AF control of all S lenses.

In addition, both FW 2.4.0.0. (for the Leica S) and FW 1.4.0.0. (for the Leica S2 and S2-P) are designed to support the Leica Summicron-S 100 mm f/2 Asph, ensuring an optimised performance of the lens on either of the three cameras.
